The Power Zone
The kite has certain different levels of power, when the kite is very high above the water around 12:00h there is less power in the kite than when the kite is 5m above the water. One of the steps of learning how to kiteboard is controlling the kite, so understanding this different power zone's will be important. Also avoid going into the medium or strong power zone when your on land. The location of the kite (while sailing) depends how much force the kite will have, discover this by yourself and it will be very helpful. An other step of controlling the kite is that you need the "bar" feeling, like feeling where the kite's at without looking.
The S-Turns
A nice trick to gain a lot of power and force into the kite is to make S-turns with the kite. Take a look at the picture underneath.
When there is not enough wind you can try to make these "S" turns with your kite to gain power to keep sailing. But it can be hard to keep sailing a high course while you are making S turns.
